Two 'Grande Dames' Honored at Bronxville Field Club

Mary Mimms and Virginia Kathryn Hefti were honored recently by the Anne Hutchinson-Bronxville Chapter of the NSDAR.

The following is from the Anne Hutchinson-Bronxville Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

Festooned with sparkling trees, pine garland, ribboned wreaths and colorful nutcrackers, the Bronxville Field Club was a festive setting for the December 6th Anne Hutchinson-Bronxville Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution’s (DAR) 95th Anniversary Luncheon honoring two Grand Dames: Chapter members Mary Mimms and Virginia Kathryn Hefti.

Mimms - who is the widow of the late Bronxville Village Justice Carney Mimms - was honored on the occasion of her 100th birthday.

And Hefti - a former DAR Regent and the widow of former Commissioner of Planning and Community Development Robert T. Hefti - was honored on the occasion of the town’s 350th Anniversary as she is a direct descendant of Henry Fowler, one of the town’s early settlers and a signatory to the vaunted 17th Century Eastchester Covenant.

Members of the DAR for more than six decades, both ladies have generously served their communities in myriad ways for as many years.

In commemoration of the 2014 Honorees’ tireless efforts on behalf of historic preservation and patriotic causes, Eastchester Town Supervisor, Anthony S. Colavita, issued official Town Proclamations congratulating both Mimms and Hefti for their indefatigable service to the community.

In addition to the Official Proclamations, Mimms and Hefti were also presented with outsized floral bouquets and were serenaded by the Pelham Larks, a choral group directed by Jeffrey Hoffman.
