Westchester and New Jersey Friends Win $106 Million 'Mega Millions' Jackpot

Four of the five winners are from Yonkers.

Four people from Yonkers and one from Basking Ridge, NJ, will split a $106 million Mega Millions jackpot after recently winning the huge prize, reports The Journal News.

The winners, who have played numbers together for years, are Edgar Lopez, Manuel and Acela Hernandez (husband and wife), Miguel Acosta and Angela Pares. Lopez, the Hernandezes and Acosta are from Yonkers, Pares is from Basking Ridge.

After taxes and evenly splitting the prize, each will receive about $8.5 million in a lump sum, with Pares receiving about $100,000 more due to New Jersey’s tax code, according to The Journal News.

Their winning number was 5-11-31-50-67 and 14 (Megaball). Lopez bought the quick-pick ticket for the group at Yonkers Grocery & Convenience Store on Yonkers Avenue on Sept. 11.
