Bronxville resident Dennis Winter will serve another five-year term on the board after winning Tuesday's Fire District election.

Bronxville resident Dennis J. Winter will serve another five-year term on the Eastchester Fire Board, after he beat candidate Robert A. Fois in Tuesday's election.

Winter won with 433 votes to Fois' 242, according to Cara Piliero, chair of the 2010 election.

"I would like to thank the 675 votes who braved the bitter cold and wind to vote in this special evening election," he said in an email today.

"In the next year,  I would like to accomplish amending NYS Town Law, Section 175 to moving the fire districts election date to November so more than 3% of the registered voter  will participate in the future. We also need to institute a series of changes to our accounting and payroll process," he said.

The board of fire commissioners governs the fire district and, according to the town website, "are responsible for general administration; the appointment of department personnel (paid and volunteer), physician, attorney and secretary (salaried positions), and the preparation and adoption of the annual Fire District budget after a public hearing."

The board meets monthly, except for July and August.
