Yonkers Man Sentenced For Shooting 4YO, Robbery

Police said the 4-year-old was not the intended target.

A Yonkers man was sentenced to 15 years in state prison for the shooting of a 4-year-old girl and the robbery of two men in Yonkers. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Monday that Floyd Bruce, 21, of Yonkers pleaded guilty June 8, 2017 to first-degree robbery, first-degree attempted assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.

Scarpino said that around 4:40 p.m. July 26, 2016, Bruce and an individual who has since been convicted were on Palisade Avenue in Yonkers.

Both of them were armed with handguns and approached two men in a parked car.

Bruce and the other man robbed the men in the car at gunpoint and then ran from the scene.

They were arrested the next day.

At the time of Bruce’s arrest, police recovered a 22-caliber semi-automatic handgun that was in his possession.

In an earlier unrelated incident, around 5:15 pm. July 16, 2016, Bruce was walking alone on Willow Street in Yonkers when he fired a 22-caliber semi-automatic pistol striking a 4-year-old in the leg.

Authorities said she was not the intended target. She was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and released a few days later.
