Yonkers Mother Tossed Newborn Baby Out 7th-Story Window: Police

A 33-year-old Yonkers woman killed her newborn baby Monday by throwing the infant out a seventh-story window, after she hid her pregnancy from her boyfriend, according to New York City police.

The baby’s body, with the umbilical cord still attached, was discovered Monday afternoon outside of the boyfriend’s Bronx apartment, and police Tuesday arrested Jennifer Berry in connection with the death.

Berry was charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter, reports WNBC-TV, but the boyfriend has not been charged. She is being held without bail.

According to police, Berry gave birth to the child in another room while the boyfriend was home, but he was unaware of it. He had thought she had terminated the pregnancy.
