1 Killed, 5 Others Hurt In Brooklyn Apartment Fire: FDNY

FDNY fire marshals will investigate the cause of the fire.

BROOKLYN, NY — One person was killed, and five others were injured after a fire broke out inside a Brooklyn apartment building on Friday, the FDNY said.

The blaze broke around 12:50 a.m. at 35 Winthrop St. in Prospect Lefferts Gardens.

The FDNY said the fire started on the fourth floor of the six-story apartment building. It took firefighters less than an hour to get the fire under control.

They found an 81-year-old woman unresponsive inside a fourth-floor apartment. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Five other people suffered minor injuries in the fire.
