Weather forecast:
1. Brooklyn Army Terminal gets new tenants (brooklyneagle.com) — Brooklyn’s Sunset Park waterfront is getting a boost as five new companies move into Brooklyn Army Terminal and MADE Bush Terminal, filling more than 58,000 square feet at BAT alone. From green cleaning products to smart lockers and 3D printing, these leases push the historic complex close to fully occupied and signal growing job and business activity in the neighborhood.
2. A Look Back at The Hugh L. Carey Tunnel as It's Designated as a Landmark (bkreader.com) — Brooklyn drivers who rely on the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel now have their daily route recognized as a Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. The designation highlights the tunnel’s vital role linking Brooklyn and Manhattan, its World War II–era construction challenges, and its place alongside icons like the Brooklyn Bridge and Grand Central Terminal.
3. Brooklyn to celebrate America's 250th anniversary with Sail4th (brooklyneagle.com) — Brooklyn residents will have front-row views this July as a massive international fleet of tall ships and naval vessels sails under the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and through New York Harbor for America’s 250th birthday. The weeklong Sail4th 250 celebration includes a Parade of Sail on July 3, a huge July 4 Hudson River flotilla, and an aerial review led by the Blue Angels.
4. US charges Iraqi national with plotting terror attack on NYC synagogue, other Jewish sites (nydailynews.com) — A man accused of plotting attacks on a New York City synagogue and other Jewish sites is now being held in solitary confinement at a federal jail in Brooklyn. Federal prosecutors say he shared maps and photos of potential targets across the U.S. and Europe and is charged with providing support to designated terrorist organizations. Brooklyn residents may notice heightened concern around local Jewish institutions and federal security activity.
