Assembly District 57 covers portions of Brooklyn within Kings County, featuring dense urban housing, mixed-income residential corridors, and a high proportion of renter-occupied units.
The district reflects a majority-minority population with long-established Caribbean, Black, and immigrant communities, alongside ongoing demographic change driven by housing demand and redevelopment.
Local employment is concentrated in healthcare, education, retail, and service-sector industries, with many residents commuting to other parts of New York City for work.
Primary elections in the district often determine final outcomes in down-ballot races due to strong partisan alignment, while general elections tend to reflect broader citywide voting patterns.
