The new school will occupy more than 10,000 square feet and serve about 140 children from infancy through preschool age.

It also is expected to create 30 teaching jobs.

Owner Poonam Sharma, a Brooklyn parent, said her own search for childcare inspired her to bring the school to the neighborhood.

"I was inspired to bring The Goddard School to Brooklyn after exploring childcare options for my own family and seeing an opportunity to introduce a higher standard of early childhood education to the community," Sharma said.

The Greenpoint location marks her first Goddard School franchise and the brand's first school in Brooklyn.

What Will Families Find Inside?

The new center will include 11 classrooms designed to serve approximately 140 students.

The school also will feature:

School officials said the center is designed to support both learning and daily care in one location.

How Does The School Teach Children?

The Goddard School uses its proprietary Wonder of Learning curriculum, an inquiry-based teaching model that encourages children to learn by asking questions, exploring new ideas and following their natural curiosity.

Teachers guide students through hands-on activities while adapting lessons to children's interests and developmental progress.

The curriculum also includes ongoing academic and social-emotional assessments, with updates shared with families through a school app.

What Is Inquiry-Based Learning?

Rather than relying primarily on direct instruction, inquiry-based learning encourages children to investigate topics through exploration and guided discovery.

Educators introduce questions and activities that allow children to develop problem-solving, communication and critical-thinking skills while learning about the world around them.
