Transformer Falls Onto Car During Brooklyn Fire

BROOKLYN, NY— A transformer fire in Brooklyn caused a partial power outage Wednesday night after a transformer, a device that helps move electricity from power lines into homes and buildings, fell onto a parked car, prompting a response from firefighters and utility crews.

The incident happened at 207 19th St. in Greenwood shortly after 9:30 p.m., according to the Fire Department of the City of New York.

Firefighters received a call at 9:39 p.m. reporting a transformer fire.

One engine company and one ladder company responded to the scene and secured the area while the utility company was notified.

The FDNY reported that the incident was closed at 9:56 p.m. No injuries or additional emergencies were reported.
