Deadly shooting near Brooklyn deli may be road rage, police say (nbcnewyork.com) — A 27‑year‑old man was shot and killed near a deli by Stanley Avenue and Crescent Street in East New York, Brooklyn, in what police suspect may be a road‑rage incident. Neighbors, already shaken by another recent fatal shooting of 17‑year‑old Ahmir Jordan nearby, are calling for more police presence as detectives search for suspects and ask the public for tips.
3. Police search for gunman after Brooklyn dog shot by stray bullet (nbcnewyork.com) — Police are still searching for the gunman who opened fire near Green‑Wood Cemetery in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, wounding a 7‑year‑old dog named Honey with a stray bullet. The shooting happened Wednesday evening near 31st Street and 5th Avenue, and while Honey is expected to recover after surgery, officers were back on the avenue Saturday night collecting evidence.
4. Bassett Beauty Bests Brooklyn: Riverhounds conquer Coney Island with all three points (pittsburghsoccernow.com) — Brooklyn FC fell 1–0 to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Coney Island's Maimonides Park, conceding on a late Sam Bassett free kick in the 81st minute. Despite several second‑half chances and a late push for an equalizer, Brooklyn couldn't break through, as both teams traded shots in a tight USL Championship Eastern Conference matchup.
5. Man once told he may never walk again departs from Brooklyn in his walk across America (news12.com) — A determined endurance athlete has just set off from the Brooklyn Bridge on a 75‑day walk across America, after once being told he might never walk again. Fergus Farrell, who survived a devastating spinal cord injury, is using his journey to raise money for spinal injury charities and to inspire others facing long odds in their own recoveries.
