NEW YORK CITY — Police are searching for the parents of a 3-year-old boy who was dropped off badly beaten and later died at a Brooklyn hospital on Sunday.

The incident happened at SUNY Downstate Hospital in East Flatbush around 11:24 a.m., police said.

Officers responded to reports of an unconscious boy who was handed off to hospital staff by an unknown woman. The boy's body showed signs of trauma, police said.

The 3-year-old boy was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The victim had bruising on his body and police believe he may have been beaten, according to multiple media reports.

The woman got into a car with a man and left the hospital after the incident. Police believe those two individuals are the boy's parents, according to an ABC7 New York report.
