Brooklyn Man Could Get 10 Yrs For Threatening To Kill US Senator

The Marine Park man pleaded guilty to threatening to kill a senator after she criticized Trump and his pro-life supporters, prosecutors said

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — A Brooklyn man who threatened to kill a U.S. senator back in December has pleaded guilty to leaving the violent messages and could face 10 years in jail, prosecutors said.

Michael Brogan, 51, admitted in federal court in Brooklyn on Friday to calling up the unidentified senator's office and threatening "to put a f---ing bullet" in her. Brogan was first charged in December after investigators traced the call to his home in Marine Park.

When he is sentenced, he could be given up to 10 years, prosecutors said.

“Brogan threatened to assault and murder a sitting United States Senator to silence the Senator and interfere with the performance of the Senator’s official duties,” United States Attorney Richard P. Donoghue said. “The Department of Justice stands ready to vigorously prosecute those who seek to subvert our constitutional system and intimidate elected officials through threats of violence.”

Brogan had made the call after watching an online video of the senator criticizing Trump and stating her views on reproductive rights, according to the complaint.

He initially told police after his arrest that the video had made him "very angry" and that he didn't remember what he said.

"You and your constant lambasting of President Trump," Brogan said in the message, left at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4. "You watch your a-- cause I ... I'm going to put a bullet in ya."

"If I see you on the streets, I’m gonna f---ing light you up with f---ing bullets," he went on.
