Coming Soon To Brooklyn: The Bushwick Film Festival

This year's Bushwick Film Festival, titled "Producing The Dream," will take place in October.

BROOKLYN, NY — The Bushwick Film Festival is back for the 17th year in a row, flooding Bushwick with film premieres, industry panels, interactive pop-ups, and more from October 16-20, 2024.

This year’s theme, "Producing The Dream," explores the muscle it takes to follow one’s dreams, and celebrates the heart and creativity filmmakers put into their work.

"We are excited to spotlight the dedication and passion that filmmakers pour into their work," said festival founder Kweighbaye Kotee. “We hope audiences are moved by the stories on screen and inspired to take action in producing their own dreams.”

Ever since Kotee founded the festival, it has been a champion of emerging and underrepresented filmmakers. Each year, the festival receives more than 1000 yearly film submissions from more than 60 countries and draws thousands of attendees to Bushwick, the non-profit organization said.

This year, in addition to film screenings, there will be a Creative Community Day that will include workshops and panels, and Youth Film Screenings that will showcase high school talent and facilitate discussion of youth issues. The festival will also host one night of stand-up comedians and one night of live bands playing beloved film scores.
