Brownsville Community Blood Drive - Pair of NY Mets tickets for donors!

Join us for a powerful night centered on community, storytelling, and home. Gathering on the historic grounds of the nation’s second-largest free Black community before the Civil War, we will gather together to consider what it means to carry on the legacy of Black belonging in Brooklyn today, examining a rapidly growing issue: deed theft. Begin the night with a free tour of the Historic Hunterfly Road Houses to learn more about the inspiring history of Black homeownership and placemaking in Central Brooklyn. Then gather with us to hear from advocates and community members who are directly impacted by deed theft. Through their stories, learn more about the troubling rise of deed theft and about the tools we have as a community to fight it. Accompanying this event, Weeksville invites you to continue the conversation by sharing your own stories of deed theft with us.

🥂 Free exhibition viewing and celebratory reception, refreshments providedCircling In Situ contextualizes the work of New York area artists within their daily life, home, and logistical concerns. One artist makes photographs in spare moments while receiving medical treatment, another turns his neighborhood into a painting studio; a third uses found objects from a family home to connect local and familial history with global struggle.

There are as many ways to be an artist and sustain creative practice as there are people, and this collection of works showcases a diversity of not just subject matter and medium, but of the ways that the work comes into being. True to Circling’s ethos, a companion zine makes visible part of the constellation of objects, practices, and relationships that make these creations possible. While each artist works in their own medium and manner, this exhibition brings them together to highlight how the creative practice fits into the artist’s life.

Bask in a night of beauty with two of NYCs most exciting and profound musical acts
ElectraBrassPop artist AANI crafts a sanctuary through sound. Vocalist, brass player, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, songwriter and storyteller Aaron "Aani" Kisslinger (they/them) is a born and raised New Yorker who believes the future lies in the past. They infuse original soulful Pop music with their background in Balkan Brass, Klezmer, and cantorial music, imagining innovative new possibilities rooted in ancestral traditions. AANI’s most recent album <a href="https://album.link/i/1812112890" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">“Fresh Air | Neshome” </a>is a shimmering celebration of collective liberation, life-breath, mysticism, queer love and human interconnectedness.
Chispa is a music project led by vocalist and songwriter Julia Rocha-Nava alongside multi-instrumentalist Sebastián Ángel-Romero and a vibrant community of collaborators. Learning from music traditions of Latin America and the Caribbean, their debut album, Somos Medicina, dreams of composting systems of oppression, reconnecting with the land, and channeling the power of queer community.

Sound bowls are a wonderful way to relax and restore your mind, body and spirit. Christine is a certified Tibetan Sound Bowl Practitioner, a method that has been used for centuries to promote health and healing within. Expect to enter a deep state of relaxation while you lay on your mat enjoying nature.
Please wear comfortable clothing. Mats are provided but it is recommended to bring a towel for extra padding and support for when you're laying on your back.&nbsp;You may also want a small towel to cover your eyes if you wish.
