<h1>Brooklyn, NY — September 2026 — On September 18, Gallery Particulier’s most successful exhibition to date, Unboxed: Black Fathers Are Present, will move from its Flatbush gallery to <a href="https://www.alexhouseproject.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Alex House Project</a>, a dynamic and innovative nonprofit that helps young adults navigate parenthood.</h1>
<h1>As the majority of people do not attend museums and art galleries, <a href="https://galleryparticulier.org/news/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Gallery Particulier </a>innovates with ways to bring visual arts into the community.&nbsp;</h1>
<h1>It is the only nonprofit in NYC that takes art to people rather than expecting them to come to galleries &amp; museums.</h1>
<h1>Visual arts are part of every culture, and bring benefits such a sense of identity and social cohesion, as well as an enrichment of experience, and connection to the artist.</h1>
<h1>Gallery Particulier have already brought art to many places including a women's shelter and a senior residence. Now, Unboxed is going directly to young adults who are working out what it means to be a parent.</h1>
<h1>Alex House Project Founder and Director Samora Coles is a visionary leader who is open to new paradigms. She immediately saw the value of bringing Dáreece Walker’s art to the young people her organization serves.</h1>
"These images can be affirming and positive for our young people," says Coles. "They offer a vision of fatherhood that is often missing from the images they see around them."
<h1>Created by Brooklyn <a href="https://www.dareecejwalker.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">artist Dáreece Walker</a>, Unboxed: Black Fathers Are Present confronts the persistent stereotype of the absent Black father. <a href="https://canva.link/89fvoxu0t33qih5" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Walker's portraits</a> make visible something that, often distorted, is proven statistically: Black fathers are very involved in the lives of their children—present, loving, nurturing, and engaged.</h1>
<h1>For Walker, making art that shakes up the status quo is essential.&nbsp;</h1>
<h1><a href="https://galleryparticulier.org/unboxed-finds-a-home-in-the-community/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">The response at Gallery Particulier</a> has been extraordinary. Unboxed has become the organization's most successful exhibition ever, drawing a steady stream of visitors and bringing families, parents, children, and community members from all over the city.</h1>

<a href="https://www.bravenewworldrep.org" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Brave New World Repertory Theatre</a> presents a rare revival of Samuel Beckett's timeless classic "Happy Days," featuring real-life married couple Claire Beckman and John Edmond Morgan as Winnie and Willie. Buried waist-deep in a scorched mound of apocalyptic waste, a middle-aged woman clings to her daily rituals with relentless optimism as her world closes in around her. Written during the Cold War, when the image of a barren landscape evoked the shadow of nuclear annihilation, Beckett's play has evolved into a stark metaphor for the current climate crisis, political paralysis, and our seeming inability to break free of patterns that harm ourselves and the planet. The female-led production is directed by Jade King Carroll, artistic director of Chautauqua Theater Company,and runs September 17-October 3 at the intimate Loading Dock Theatre on Tillary Street in downtown Brooklyn.

Also joining the group is twice Grammy nominated pianist and leader of Organic Electric, the innovative synthesizer player Mike Hayama &nbsp; Rapidly rising star Rico Jones whose first album was voted one of the&nbsp; 2026 best by Downbeat Magazine&nbsp; will bring his energetic saxophone sounds.&nbsp; Rounding out the band is Calvin Jones the accomplished acoustic and electric bassist&nbsp; who collaborated Pharaoh Sanders and Max Roach.
