MIDWOOD, BROOKLYN — A 10-year-old boy was killed Tuesday when an SUV jumped the curb and hit him while he was waiting for the bus, police said.

The boy was waiting on the corner of Ocean Avenue and Avenue L just after 2:30 p.m. when a Lexus SUV driving north on Ocean Avenue veered to the right and went up onto the sidewalk, police said. The car kept driving even after it hit the boy and ended up crashing into scaffolding at 1673 Ocean Ave.

Emergency responders rushed to the street corner and found the boy with "severe trauma" on his neck and back. They took him to New York Community Hospital, where he died, police said.

There are no arrests yet and the NYPD's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the crash, police said.
