Community Soundscape Project at Brooklyn Botanic Garden on August 15
Join 2023 Artist in Residence Kamala Sankaram in a community art project at the Garden
Be part of a community art project at the Garden! As part of Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Power of Trees program series and in partnership with its 2023 Artist in Residence Kamala Sankaram, New Yorkers are invited to contribute field recordings inspired from natural and mechanical sounds found in their community. Submission participants can document noises representative of their current soundscape, focusing on different aspects such as the sound’s pitch, volume, and rhythm. Recordings may be submitted until Sunday, August 13.
On August 15, visitors can join Sankaram at BBG to listen to the recordings and join in the process of creating a soundscape representative of the community around the Garden through audience participation. Entry to the Community Soundscape Project is included with Garden admission.
