Coney Island Park Opens With Free Rides And New Celebrations
Opening weekend at Luna Park features Coney Island thrills, egg cream christening and support for local community organizations.
BROOKLYN, NY – Luna Park in Coney Island will welcome visitors for the 2026 season on March 28 at 11 a.m. with a two-day opening weekend celebration: featuring rides, treats and seaside festivities.
The event will highlight the Coney Island Cyclone, which turns 99 this June.
On Sunday, at 11 a.m., the park will hold its annual Cyclone Egg Cream Christening.

The first 99 riders that day will receive a free ride and a classic egg cream treat in honor of the coaster’s milestone birthday.
Luna Park will donate a portion of opening weekend proceeds from on-site Luna Boardwalk Pass sales to local charities, including the Coney Island Sharks, Children of Promise NYC and the Coney Island Public Library.

The park continues its investment in upgrades, including new midway and arcade games, renovated retail outlets and new food offerings.
Luna Park will be open daily during Spring Break (April 2–12) and every Friday through Sunday until Memorial Day, after which it will operate daily. Admission is free, with rides starting at $4.
