Driver Arrested For Deadly Bushwick Hit-And-Run, Police Say

BROOKLYN, NY — Police have arrested a delivery truck driver named Lennis Escalona Luna, who they accuse of hitting and killing a pedestrian on Friday morning in Bushwick, New York City Police Department officials said.

Marco Gallardo Tirado, 59, was crossing Wyckoff Avenue when police say he was hit by a white box truck making a right turn onto Dekalb Avenue just after 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning.

Gallardo Tirado was rushed to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center two blocks away, where he was pronounced dead shortly after, police said.

NYPD officials said that the driver, who is 42 years old, was arrested in Park Slope later that day and charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to use due care.
