Off-Duty Police Officer Arrested In Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY — Police officer Darleen Barbier was arrested today at around 3 a.m. in Flatlands and is being accused of 3rd-degree assault and criminal mischief, New York Police Department officials say.

Police say Barbier, who was off duty at the time, had a verbal argument that turned into a physical confrontation around 2 a.m.. She is accused of pushing an 81-year-old woman, who sustained knee, elbow and back injuries.

The confrontation happened near 1636 East 45th Street, police officials say.
