The End Of An Era For The Iconic Brooklyn Brewery

BROOKLYN, NY— Brooklyn Brewery will close its original tasting room at 79 N. 11th St. on Aug. 29. , and move four blocks to 1 Wythe Ave., where it is building a significantly larger home with a full kitchen, expanded brewing facilities, event space and a rooftop terrace bar.

The brewery announced the move in May, describing the new location as nearly four times the capacity of its current space.

The new location is expected to begin a soft opening later this summer, followed by a grand opening in the fall.

Brooklyn Brewery has scheduled a farewell party at the tasting room from 9 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. that night. Admission is free with an RSVP.

For visitors planning one last trip, the tasting room remains open at 79 N. 11th St. until the move.

The new facility will occupy about 41,000 square feet across multiple levels, according to the brewery’s announcement.

A central gathering area will include the main bar, retail space and seating for drinks and meals.

The building will also feature outdoor space, including a fourth-floor terrace bar, as well as flexible areas for public and private events.

The brewery also plans to expand its brewing operation.

New equipment will support small-batch and experimental beers and establish the Williamsburg location as Brooklyn Brewery’s global research and development center.

And, for the first time, Brooklyn Brewery will have a full kitchen.

The brewery is partnering with Chef Michael Ayoub, founder of Fornino, on a pizza program built around Neapolitan-style pies and food designed to pair with Brooklyn beers.

The new facility will also include a demonstration kitchen with livestreaming capabilities for collaborations and events, according to the brewery.

The bar program will expand beyond beer as well, with wine and cocktails joining the lineup.
