Ex-FBI Agent Dragged Brooklyn Pedestrian After Striking Him, Prosecutors Say

Andrew Reyes was arrested after allegedly striking a pedestrian with his government-issued vehicle in Brooklyn.

BROOKLYN, NY— A federal agent who struck a Brooklyn pedestrian with his government-issued vehicle while driving the wrong direction, and failed to report the incident, was arrested Thursday.

Andrew Reyes, a former special agent with the F.B.I, blew a red light at the intersection of Ocean Parkway and Beverley Road, and after hitting the male pedestrian, dragged him through the snow and placed him on a sidewalk bench.

Reyes, 30, left the victim "severely injured and unattended," prosecutors said, fleeing the scene on Feb. 3.

When later asked by federal agents whether he had ever hit a person with his FBI-issued car and not reported it, Reyes falsely stated that he had not, the U.S. Attorney's Office reported.

If convicted, Reyes faces up to 10 years in prison.

The defendant’s alleged conduct demonstrated a shocking disregard for human life and his sworn oath to uphold the law," stated United States Attorney Joseph Nocella.

"No one is above the law and those who abuse their position of trust and deprive citizens of their constitutional rights will be prosecuted.”

Reyes appeared in Brooklyn federal court, and entered a plea of not guilty.

His lawyer said Reyes had left the F.B.I. and has been working at a home remodeling business.
