SEE: Boerum Hill Fire Tears Through Third Floor Of Wyckoff Gardens Building
The blaze appeared to come from a third-floor air conditioning unit.

BOERUM HILL — A fire tore through the third floor of the Wyckoff Gardens housing complex in Boerum Hill on Friday afternoon.
The blaze broke out on the third floor of the 21-story NYCHA high-rise at 272 Wyckoff St. around 1:05 p.m., said the FDNY. Terrified residents were evacuated from the building's lower floors as their homes filled with smoke.
"I got out of the building when I smelled the smoke," Quennel Gibson, who lives on the fifth floor, told Patch. "It was coming into my kitchen."

Gibson sent Patch this video of the immediate aftermath of the fire, showing what appears to be a third-floor air conditioning unit on fire:
Firefighters were still working to extinguish the blaze an hour after it first started. No injuries were reported, an FDNY spokesman said.

Patch spoke with a NYCHA rep who told us that the displaced family to temporarily relocate them.
The Wyckoff Gardens are also fireproof so the fire couldn't spread very far, something residents we spoke with at the scene noted to us.
