Free Brooklyn Express Bus Cuts Hour-Long Subway Trip

The Ordinary launches a no-cost express bus through June 9.

BROOKLYN, NY— A free express bus connecting Williamsburg and Prospect Park will begin running May 26, offering Brooklyn riders a direct route that avoids the subway trip through Manhattan.

The service, called “The Ordinary Bus,” will operate between Domino Park at Kent Avenue and South 5th Street and Prospect Park near Eastern Parkway and the Brooklyn Public Library through June 9.

The free bus will run daily with additional weekend morning service.

Buses departing Prospect Park will leave at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Organizers said the route replaces a subway trip that can take more than 50 minutes and often requires riders traveling through Manhattan despite both destinations sitting within Brooklyn.

“The Ordinary Bus replaces a 50+ minute subway route that requires going into Manhattan with a no-stop North-South corridor that is open to everyone and completely free,” organizers said in promotional materials.

The project comes from The Ordinary, the skincare brand known for minimalist products and low-cost pricing.

The company framed the temporary transit service as an extension of its philosophy around accessibility and efficiency.

“Infrastructure shapes how people move through their day,” the company said. “When it works, it’s invisible. When it doesn’t, people build workarounds.”

The shuttle will operate as a limited-run pilot during the peak spring and early summer park season, connecting two of Brooklyn’s busiest public spaces without intermediate stops.
