Here are the top three stories today in Brooklyn:

  1. A 37-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head inside a stairwell at the Nostrand Houses in Sheepshead Bay. He was discovered by police on the first floor of the public housing complex after being seen entering the building with a friend the night before. The victim, who has not yet been publicly identified, did not reside in the building where the shooting took place; authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine a motive and identify any suspects. (WABC-TV)
  2. Former federal correction officer Jeremy Monk has pleaded guilty to a bribery charge after accepting $10,000 to smuggle drugs into the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. The 32-year-old man was caught attempting to hide more than nine ounces of marijuana in a staff bathroom on Apr. 15. Monk, who had brought contraband into the jail multiple times, resigned three days later and was arrested in August and could now face up to three years in prison. (New York Daily News)
  3. The Go Crazy Festival, one of New York City's most prominent music festivals for emerging artists, is scheduled for Apr. 9 at 260 Meserole Street in Brooklyn. The event hosted by No Days Off will feature a diverse range of musical genres, including hip-hop, R&B, pop, and more, performed by up-and-coming musicians from around the world.
