Here are the top stories today in Brooklyn:

1. The Brooklyn Museum has strengthened its storytelling capacities with more than 200 acquisitions this year. On the surface, the additions seem kind of all over the place: From a beaded full-size trailer, to an ancient Egyptian relief linked to King Tutankamun, to a cache of watercolors by Emily Sargent (John Singer Sargent's overlooked sister, whose works were often attributed to him), the expanded holdings are indicative of the museum's commitment to telling new stories from a wider variety of perspectives. Many of the new works will be placed in the American art wing and were curated with a focus on introducing more artwork by Black, Asian American, Native American, and women artists who have historically been excluded from mainstream art history.

2. Crown Heights resident and former super says his landlord made his life a "living hell" after refusing a buy-out—this weekend, neighbors and elected officials gathered outside his building in support. Francis Roberts, a tenant at 972 Park Place has filed a lawsuit against landlord Yehuda Gruenberg, claiming that he's been under siege since Gruenberg acquired the building last April. According to court records and reports, Roberts' list of bizarre grievances featured sewage, squatters, drug use, and chickens. On Sunday, Council Member Chi Ossé, State Assembly Member Brian Cunningham, and about 150 locals gathered outside Roberts' building to protest on his behalf. And never mind Roberts' own extensive list of issues, his problems make up only a small share of 225 outstanding housing violations listed for 972 Park Place, according to city records.

3. Police are still looking for a group of trigger-happy individuals who opened fire outside Kennedy King playground on East 93rd Street and Clarkson Avenue in early November. Around 5 p.m. on Nov. 7, the group fired multiple times into the public children's recreation area, allegedly aiming at another group inside the playground. Fortunately no one was hit by the onslaught. NYPD has just released video surveillance footage of three suspects wanted for questioning, visit the link to watch and learn more.

4. Local Gowanus stakeholders are being summoned for oversight group to help make sure the neighborhood rezoning plan stays true to its commitments. As part of the rezoning plan for 82 blocks in Gowanus, the city agreed to establish a task force to keep things in check and make sure all elements of the plan are adhered to, especially the '56 Points of Agreement,' which outline pledged community investments. A group facilitator has already been named, but they are still sourcing members to join the oversight group—yes Brooklyn, that means they want you! Local stakeholders are encouraged to apply by Nov. 30 to become founding members of the task force.

5. Bed-Stuy residents were put in danger by the demolition of a beloved 120-year-old building. Despite an overwhelming amount of support for the landmarking of Bed-Stuy's Dangler Mansion, developer Tomer Erlich of Brooklyn 360 Realty violently demolished the building in July. The only explanation was a major (and some believe malicious) oversight on the Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) that let the landmarking process slip through the cracks. Local residents have complied list of demands directed towards the LPC, the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB), the Mayor's Office, and Tomer Erlich. List creators have sited Erlich's messy real estate history, one that's earned him a reputation for tenant harassment and poor building management. Council Member Chi Ossé is among those urging LPC and DOB to ensure that Erlich, among many things, "rebuild the Jacob Dangler Mansion at 441 Willoughby Ave. brick by brick."
