New York native wins national title at Spring North American Bridge Championships
Zia Mahmood of New York, N.Y., claimed victory in the Vanderbilt Knockout Teams event at the Spring North American Bridge Championships.

Zia Mahmood of New York, N.Y., claimed victory in the Vanderbilt Knockout Teams event at the Spring North American Bridge Championships (NABCs), one of the 15 championship-level events held in Reno, Nev., from March 10 to 20.
This is Mahmood’s 25th first-place NABC title. Members of the team, pictured left to right, included Alejandro Bianchedi of Buenos Aires, Argentina; Diego Brenner of L’Eixample Barc, Spain; Giorgio Duboin of Torino, Italy; Mahmood; Agustin Madala of Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Norberto Bocchi of Barcelona, Spain (not pictured).
The NABCs are held three times a year across the U.S. and Canada to bring together players of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced, with opportunities for everyone to play daily from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. The 2016 Summer NABCs will be held in Washington, D.C., from July 21 to 31.
