The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Brooklyn.

Hello, everybody! I'm back in your inbox this chilly morning with the most important things happening locally. In today's Daily, you'll read about these stories and more:
- A disbarred lawyer has been convicted of stealing four more homes from Black and Latino homeowners
- The city's first all-electric, multi-use skyscraper just topped out downtown
- A new taproom is doing away with waiting — behold the power of cocktails on tap!
But first, today's weather:
🌧 Periods of rain. High: 42 Low: 40.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Brooklyn who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our readers to local businesses they need to know. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:
1. Demonstrators came together outside Brooklyn Criminal Court yesterday to demand action against the rising tide of antisemitic hate crimes. End Jew Hatred is an international grassroots movement, that, on Wednesday, joined forces with local leaders to protest downtown. Sulieman Othman, who is accused of violently attacking a Jewish man in 2021, appeared before a judge at Criminal Court — Jewish leaders are arguing against offering plea deals to those convicted of hate crimes. Yesterday, the Brooklyn District Attorney said that Othman rejected a plea for assault as a hate crime.
2. A disbarred lawyer and real estate broker was convicted yesterday of crime related to the theft of four or more properties is Brooklyn. Sanford Solny has been charged with renting out "disputed homes" to unwitting tenants and collecting close to $64,000 in rent. In 2020, Solny was indicted on similar charges — accused of stealing eight other homes — in crimes that largely affected Black and Latino homeowners. In court yesterday, Solny pleaded not guilty to the new set of charges and the district attorney's office withdrew a plea deal offer in which the accused would serve four to 12 years in prison.

3. The city's first ever all-electric skyscraper is paving the way in Downtown Brooklyn. Earlier this week the building 100 Flatbush topped out at 44-stories, part of the first phase of Alloy Block, "a mixed-use five-building development designed by Alloy Development to have 850 apartments, 200,000 square feet of office space, and two public schools." The building with house 441 mixed-income residences, all decked out with sustainable features like induction cooktops and heat pump dryers. Khalil Gibran International Academy (KGIA) and a new public elementary school will also inhabit the building, reliant entirely on electric utilities.
4. A new Brooklyn bar is cutting wait times with 20 pre-made cocktails on tap. Brooklyn-based craft cocktail brand, Wandering Barman, was co-founded by Roxane Mollicchi, Julian Mohamed, and Darren Grenia who previously owned and operated the restaurant Dear Bushwick. Their cocktails were in high demand, and they found themselves slipping to keep up on the weekends. They decided to nip their woes in the bud and opened a new taproom inspired by bars in the U.K. The Wandering Barman's taproom is located at 315 Meserole St. in East Williamsburg with 20 read-to-serve cocktails on tap. No more waiting here!
5. A beloved independent movie house in Greenpoint in expanding to a new three-screen theater in Sunset Park. Stuart Cinema and Cafe has been opinion West Street in the northernmost Brooklyn neighborhood since 2018. Owner Emelyn Stuart has worked in the film industry as an independent producer and runs a successful film festival, but after a few years in the city saw a demand for independent movie houses — places that offered more than the classic movie theater experience. The cinema shows first-run films and is available to be rented out for community events and shows. And, in addition to popcorn, snacks include empanadas and cupcakes!
