  1. NY lawmakers began debating a piece of legislation Tuesday that would expand the legal protections for those seeking an abortion. Governor Kathy Hochul has called for New York to expand these protections as questions continue to surround whether or not the Supreme Court will overrule Roe vs. Wade this summer. Currently, there are over half a dozen abortion-related bills lawmakers are planning to send to Hochul for signature this week. (Brooklyn Daily Eagle)
  2. A suspect has been indicted for allegedly stabbing a fellow Ukrainian in Brooklyn. According to authorities, 31-year-old Oleg Sulyma, a Ukrainian immigrant living in Gravesen 31- falsely believed the 36-year-old victim was Russian. Investigators stated Sulyma stabbed the man after yelling “you look Russian” at around 3:45 a.m. inside a lounge near Emmons Avenue and E. 21st Street. Sulyma has been charged with second-degree attempted murder as a hate crime, assault as a hate crime, and 32 other charges. (AMNY)
