Shooting Near Coney Island Boardwalk Leaves NYC Man Dead

BROOKLYN, NY — A 38-year-old man was fatally shot while sitting inside a car in Brooklyn’s Coney Island neighborhood early Tuesday, police said.

Authorities said a 911 call reporting shots fired came in around 1:30 a.m. near Ocean Drive and Surf Avenue.

Officers canvassing the area later found the victim inside a vehicle on West 35th Street near Bayview Avenue, more than half a mile from where the gunfire was reported.

EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the 38-year-old man dead from gunshot wounds to the arm and torso.

As of Tuesday, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing, police said.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family members.
