BROOKLYN, NY — A 24-year-old motorcycle driver died in a crash with a dump truck on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway near the Fort Hamilton Parkway pedestrian overpass on Saturday afternoon. The motorcyclist, Artem Polin, was traveling eastbound in the center lane when the two vehicles collided around 1 p.m. The dump truck was also driving eastbound and the driver stayed at the scene after the crash. Emergency responders transported Polin to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead. No arrests have been made. The investigation remains ongoing.

Dog Show, Doggie Yoga, Therapy Dogs, Storytimes, Treats, and More Take Over&nbsp;

 On June 14, Montague Street is going to the dogs. Literally.
For one afternoon, Brooklyn Heights' main commercial strip transforms into a neighborhood wide celebration of the four legged friends who make the community feel like home. From the beloved Brooklyn Heights Association Dog Show and outdoor yoga with pups to therapy dogs, family story times, pet organizations, treats, shopping, and dog friendly surprises, Dogs' Days on Montague Street offers something for animal lovers of every age.
The free event takes place from 12 to 5 p.m. on Montague Street between Clinton Street and Hicks Street as part of Montague Open Streets. Rain or shine.
The Dog Show Returns
The centerpiece of the day is the return of the Brooklyn Heights Association Dog Show at 1 p.m. on the Henry-to-Hicks block. A neighborhood favorite, the Dog Show brings together local dogs and their humans for an afternoon of friendly competition, community spirit, and plenty of tail wagging.
"The Dog Show has become one of our favorite annual traditions," said Kim Glickman, Deputy Director of the Brooklyn Heights Association. "Its wholesome fun at Open Streets allows the community to come together to both celebrate our canine pals and support the small businesses that line Montague Street.”
Neighbors are invited to register their dogs for the show&nbsp;<a href="https://thebha.org/civicrm/event/info/?reset=1&amp;id=113&amp;noFullMsg=true" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">here</a>, cheer from the sidelines, or simply come enjoy the scene.
Doggie Yoga, Story Time, and Therapy Dogs
Following the Dog Show, GTHR Yoga hosts Doggie Flow Yoga at 3 p.m. on the Henry-to-Hicks block. The relaxed outdoor session is designed for people and their pups. No experience required. Participants should bring their own mat and reserve a spot in advance<a href="https://app.arketa.co/gthryoga/checkout/1qvpV0AItIpdDo20hE9o" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"> here</a>.
Throughout the afternoon, author, teacher, and literacy specialist Lauren Fornoles, known to young readers as Early Bird, will lead interactive family storytimes at 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m. Drawing from her books Night Owl and Early Bird, Sheba the Alley Cat, and The Pearl Caper, the sessions blend storytelling, imagination, and a little animal magic. Best for children ages 4 to 7.
Visitors can also meet Eloise, a seven-year-old Saint Bernard therapy dog, neighborhood celebrity, and children's book star who has now added mixologist to her résumé. Guests can stop by to sample her brand-new line of mocktails made just for dogs and take a look at her book.
Representatives from The Good Dog Foundation will be on hand to share volunteer opportunities, neighbors from Hillside Dog Park will be out in force, along with the NYC Department of Health who will offer information on dog licensing, tick prevention, and responsible pet ownership.
Shopping, Treats, and Bites for Humans Too
Local businesses and vendors will bring plenty of ways to spoil your pup — and yourself.
City Chemist will offer a curated collection of designer dog toys, organic treats, elevated bowls, and custom collars. Gone to the Dogs will feature handcrafted pet apparel, leashes, accessories, and treats made right here in Brooklyn.
Humans will have plenty to enjoy, too. Chama Mama will offer complimentary tastes of its fan-favorite seasonal lemonade and Georgian specialties, while Marbré Bakery pops up with French madeleines and Flutter Butter brings gluten-free baked goods to the street.
Give Back: Help Stock a Local Food Pantry
Starting at 11 a.m., St. Ann's and Holy Trinity Church invites neighbors to help stock its food pantry with a table set up in front of 157 Montague Street through 3 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable items — canned goods, pasta, rice, and peanut butter — to donate on the spot. A tag sale running alongside offers great finds, with all proceeds supporting local families in need. Clergy and church members will also have baked goods and dog treats to share, along with information about the church and its programs.

Dogs' Days on Montague Street is part of Montague Open Streets, the popular seasonal program that closes Montague Street between Clinton Street and Hicks Street to traffic and fills the neighborhood with free programming, food, shopping, performances, and community events.
"Dogs' Days is one of the highlights of our Open Streets season," said Kate Chura, Executive Director of the Montague Street BID. "It brings people out, fills our blocks with activity, and gives our local businesses a real boost. We love seeing the community come together this way,&nbsp; it's exactly what Montague Street is all about."
The program is presented by the Montague BID in collaboration with the Brooklyn Heights Association and the New York City Department of Transportation.
