Police Arrest Man Accused Of Fatal Hit-And-Run In Brooklyn: NYPD
The crash was back in March 2023.

BROOKLYN, NY — Police have arrested a man accused of a fatal hit-and-run in Brooklyn, New York City Police Department officials said.
According to the NYPD, 33-year-old Mitchell Maldonado was arrested on Wednesday in Brooklyn for a hit-and-run crash in March 2023.
Police said that on March 3, 2023, around 9 p.m., two pedestrians were hit by a red pick up truck on West 24th Street and Mermaid Avenue in Brooklyn, and then the truck fled westbound on Mermaid Avenue.

Both pedestrians were transported to hospitals, and 41-year-old Tamika Richards was pronounced dead, police said. The other pedestrian survived his injuries, police said.
On Wednesday, Maldonado was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, two counts of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury, two counts of failing to show ID, two counts of failing to yield to a pedestrian, and unsafe movement of a stopped motor vehicle, police said.
