Postal Worker Slashed In Brooklyn Attack

Union officials report the worker suffered severe facial injuries as investigators search for the attacker.

BROOKLYN, NY— A postal worker was slashed in the face while delivering mail in Brooklyn, police said.

The attack occurred around 4:30 p.m. Monday near Bedford Avenue in Crown Heights.

Investigators said a man approached the 48-year-old worker and demanded a package he was carrying.

When the worker refused, the man cut his face with an unknown object and fled into a nearby building, police said.

The victim was hospitalized with severe injuries.

"What’s happening now…has never happened to us," John Cruz, president of Brooklyn Letter Carriers Branch 41, said.

Investigators are searching for the suspect.
