Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:
1. Unable to pull himself up, a commuter was stranded on the subway tracks at Grant Avenue station until NYPD were able to pull him up to safety. Bodycam footage posted online by NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell shows two NYPD officers run down the platform to the fallen passenger — bystanders appear to be in shock, unable to offer help. With each officer grabbing one of the man's arms, they pull him back up on the platform again. Commissioner Sewell took the opportunity to praise the force, saying that a rescue such as this one was all thanks to strategically deployed NYPD officers on the Brooklyn subway platform.
2. Golden Gate who? The Manhattan Bridge beats the San Francisco landmark on Google Maps' 2022 'Top Scenic Spots' list. Specifically, the view of the Manhattan Bridge from DUMBO in Brooklyn. According to Google's annual 'Year in Search' statistics, the Manhattan Bridge is the most revered suspension bridge in the United States — ranked higher in American hearts and minds that the flashy, rust-colored, Golden Gate. But the question on peoples' minds is: Why not the Manhattan Bridge's arguably more famous sister, the Brooklyn Bridge? Perhaps out-of-towners get confused, but either way DUMBO has an unbeatable view of the two. For fun facts about this year's Google Maps winner, visit the link below.
3. The Brooklyn Nets have pulled off a proper Christmas Miracle with franchise-record 91 points in their first half against Golden State. On Wednesday, the Nets put up the best first half in their history. Kevin Durant scored 23 points in a 91-point first half that was the third biggest in the league, and the Nets routed the Golden State Warriors 143-113 to send the reigning champions staggering home with their second blowout loss in two nights in New York. Not a very merry holiday season for the Californians, especially with the long faces of sidelined Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Andrew Wiggins watching from the bench.

🐝 Brooklyn Buzz:
- Did you know NYC is famous for this fizzy, chocolaty classic? "Egg creams are a beverage steeped in history and mystery. An iconic New York City drink, egg creams reached peak popularity in the early 1900s, particularly in Brooklyn and the Lower East Side of Manhattan, where soda fountains and candy shops dotted the streets, serving sodas, sundaes, and, of course, egg creams." - Seven Eateries for The Feast of the Seven Fishes: "Most Italian-Americans who grew up in Brooklyn can regale you with stories from their childhood Christmas Eve dinners where a seemingly endless parade of dishes heaped with fish — grilled, sautéed, stuffed and sauce-smothered — would make their way around a packed table of tipsy relatives. Families and friends would devour course after course of lovingly prepared sea fare before shuffling off to Midnight mass. This is the time-honored tradition of The Feast of the Seven Fishes, and Brooklynites are some of the best to have ever feasted fishily." Read more at the link. (Brooklyn Magazine)
