Clinton Hill Could Get Its Christopher Wallace Way

Community Board 2 will revisit a proposal to name St. James Place in honor of Biggie Smalls.

CLINTON HILL, BROOKLYN — He's still hoping to get his way.

A Brooklyn artist who has been trying for the past five years to name a Clinton Hill street after the late rap icon Christopher Wallace, also known as "Biggie Smalls," will resubmit his proposal at a Community Board 2 meeting Thursday night, city records show.

LeRoy McCarthy — the Brooklynite who successfully brought "Respect" to the Franklin Avenue subway station to honor the late Aretha — hopes finally to dub St. James Place between Fulton Street and Gates Avenue as “Christopher Wallace Way."

McCarthy first submitted his plans in 2013, but was turned down by the Community Board.

This is not the hip-hop legend's only Brooklyn memorial; the Crispus Attucks Playground basketball courts in Bed-Stuy were renamed to honor of Wallace in 2017.
