Teen Injured In Shooting At Brooklyn Basketball Court

The shooting happened Wednesday at a basketball court near Isaac Bildersee school in Canarsie, according to police.

BROOKLYN, NY — An 18-year-old is in critical condition after he was shot near a Brooklyn middle school on Wednesday, according to police.

An NYPD spokesperson said the shooting happened around 5:40 p.m. at Flatlands Avenue and East 81st Street near I.S. 68 Isaac Bildersee in Canarsie. When officers arrived, they found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound to his head.

The teen was taken to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in critical condition.

According to a New York Daily News report, the teen was shot while on a basketball court near the middle school.

“It was one shot, he was lying there in the school compound in the (Bildersee Playground) park,” a witness told the Daily News. “He was bleeding, he was bleeding from the head… it was horrible."

The shooting came just weeks after two 17-year-old boys were wounded near the school, the Daily News reported. One suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the leg and torso, while the other was hit twice in the leg.
