Teen Killed In Shooting At Brooklyn NYCHA Development, Police Say

Police are investigating after a 16-year-old was found fatally shot at a public housing complex Monday evening.

BROOKLYN, NY — A 16-year-old boy was found shot inside a Brooklyn public housing complex Monday night, prompting a police search for the shooter.

Around 6 p.m., officers were called to a building at the NYCHA’s Sheepshead Bay Houses near Avenue X and Brown Street, where they found the teen unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

Emergency crews rushed him to South Brooklyn Health, where he was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

The NYPD has not named a suspect in the shooting and the department's investigation remains ongoing, police said.

Officials said the teen’s name will be released once his family has been notified.
