Here are the top stories in Brooklyn today:
1. Yesterday, a tragic scene unfolded by the body of a 13-year-old girl was found washed up on the shores of Brooklyn Bridge Park. According to police, she was discovered near the Fulton Ferry Landing pier in Brooklyn Heights about 8:25 a.m. and was already dead when medics arrived she. Her body bore no obvious signs of trauma. Police sources say that the teenager suffered from bi-polar disorder and was reported missing on Sunday. At this time, officials no not believe the girl was a victim of a crime, but a city medical examiner has yet to report a cause of death. Our thoughts go out to her family and loved ones.

2. Over the weekend, the Brooklyn Children's Museums celebrated MLK with a three-day festival. Families spent the weekend learning about the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and annual day set aside to commemorate his visions and achievements. Children got to experience and learn about the Dr. King through creative activities like puppet-making, a march, and a performance — each activity teaching kids about the impact that MLK made on this country.
3. Something's a little off about the facade of a Brooklyn townhouse; in fact, it's entirely fake. But what's behind the mask is even more enticing: a secret history. Blacked out windows and a thick metal door with a solitary grate make this particular house not quite as recognizable as its classic row house neighbors — if you didn't know any better, you might think it was a bunker. You'll find faker at 58 Joralemon Street in Brooklyn Heights — a Greek Revival home originally built in 1847 and later sold to the Interborough Rapid Transit Company (IRTC) in 1907. So what is it? As it turns out, 58 Joralemon is just a really, really, really big subway vent for the Lexington Avenue Line which still runs underneath the row today as the 4 and 5. When IRTC bought the home for this purpose, they were required to leave the facade intact, as the old Greek revival home was part of a historic district.
