Uniqlo To Open Massive New Store In Brooklyn — Here’s What To Know

The Japanese fashion giant debuts in Williamsburg this week, offering Brooklynites its refined, minimalist staples on Kent Avenue.

BROOKLYN, NY — After months of anticipation, Japanese fashion brand UNIQLO is finally opening its long-awaited Brooklyn flagship this week.

The launch marks a major milestone in the retailer’s New York expansion, coming as many competitors scale back their physical presence.

Founded in the 1980s, UNIQLO has built its reputation on minimalist design, quality basics and affordable prices. The company now operates nearly 2,500 stores worldwide, with the Williamsburg shop becoming its latest addition to the city’s growing retail landscape.

As part of a broader U.S. push, UNIQLO is also planning new flagship stores in Chicago and San Francisco, along with additional New York locations in Union Square, the World Trade Center and Bryant Park.

Opening this Friday, the Williamsburg store will anchor a prime retail space at 187 Kent Avenue, inside The Kent House, a seven-story mixed-use building completed in 2020 as part of the neighborhood’s East River redevelopment.

The location previously housed the Showfields concept store.

To celebrate the grand opening, UNIQLO Williamsburg will host a weekend of special promotions, giveaways and in-store events.

Shoppers can find exclusive discounts on popular items like jeans, jackets and sweatpants, alongside several creative activities throughout the weekend.

The first 300 customers in line each day will receive a free Knot Bag featuring a UNIQLO-exclusive disposable camera, while shoppers who spend $99 or more can take home a complimentary tote bag.

The store will also offer custom artwork in collaboration with the MTA and free Peter Pan Donuts for early arrivals, official said.

App members can sign up for a live portrait drawing by local artist Hiroshi Masuda, available daily from 4–6 p.m. Only 10 sessions will be offered per day, with tickets distributed on a first-come, first-served basis—one per person, no purchase necessary.

The grand opening will be set to the beat of traditional Japanese Taiko drum performances, scheduled at 10:50 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

UNIQLO is known for its minimalist, unisex designs and affordable apparel for men, women and children. The brand offers high-quality pieces in sizes from XXS to plus, suitable for everything from workouts to casual and professional wear.
