Woman Killed After Falling Down NYC Garbage Chute: Police
The woman's body was found in a trash bag in the basement of an apartment building.
BROOKLYN, NY — A woman found dead in a Brooklyn basement nearly two weeks ago is now believed to have fallen into the building's garbage chute and was crushed to death.
According to police, 39-year-old Michelle Montgomery's death is being ruled as an accident. Her body was found in a trash bag at the Borinquen Public Houses in Williamsburg on Feb. 1.
Montgomery was found with multiple wounds and slashes. Police say the 39-year-old may have been out drinking the night before and was seen on surveillance video re-entering the building early Sunday morning.

Authorities believe that the woman may have dropped something in the garbage chute and she may have attempted to retrieve it before she fell in.
The 39-year-old was likely crushed by the compactor, police and the city's medical examiner said.
