Zachariah Padilla, Child Struck In Brooklyn Hit-And-Run, Dies
Authorities are asking for tips after a driver fled the scene following a fatal crash involving a child in East Flatbush.
BROOKLYN, NY — Police are searching for the driver of an SUV who struck and killed a child Thursday morning before fleeing the scene, according to the New York City Police Department.
The crash happened around 11:09 a.m. at the intersection of Linden Boulevard and Rockaway Parkway in Brooklyn.
Authorities said the child, identified as Zachariah Padilla, 4, got away from his mother and ran into the middle of the street.

As his mother chased after him, a white Ford sport utility vehicle traveling north struck the boy, police said.
Padilla suffered severe trauma and was taken to One Brooklyn Health – Brooklyn Hospital Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver did not remain at the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
