Bloods Gang Member Who Murdered Security Guard Sentenced
Antonio Mahon was convicted of murdering Riverdale Towers guard Aaron Locklear by shooting him in the back of the head, prosecutors said.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — The Bloods gang member who fatally shot one security guard and paralyzed another faces a 76-year-to-life sentence, prosecutors announced Monday.
Antonio Mahon, 22, shot the Riverdale Towers security guard Aaron Locklear and his colleague on Rockaway and Livonia avenues on Nov. 28, 2014, at around 8:45 a.m., according to a statement from the Brooklyn District Attorney's office.
Mahon walked past the two men, turned and shot them from behind, striking Locklear in the head and the other guard in the back, prosecutors said.

Locklear died from his injuries in Brookdale Hospital five days after the shooting and his partner suffered partial paralysis, said prosecutors.
The morning of the shooting, Mahon, a member of the Bloods, pointed a handgun at a rival gang member whom he chased into a Dumont Avenue apartment around 2:30 a.m. and later threatened to kill another man, trial testimony revealed.

Police arrested Mahon, of Queens, in a relative’s home in Queens on January 9, 2015, prosecutors said.
Mahon confessed to police that he had shot the two security guards and was identified by three witnesses in a line-up, according to prosecutors.
Mahon was convicted of murder, attempted murder, burglary and other charges in Brooklyn criminal court on April 4, according to prosecutors.
“The victims in this case were two innocent young men simply doing their jobs who got caught in the cross-hairs of gang-related violence," said Acting District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. "Today’s lengthy sentence is well-deserved and necessary to protect the residents of Brooklyn.”
