Brooklyn Blaze Leaves 14 Homeless For The Holidays: FDNY

Fourteen Cypress Hills residents were displaced by a second-alarm fire that erupted on Ashford Street Thursday morning, said FDNY.

CYPRESS HILLS, BROOKLYN — A massive blaze that ripped through a Brooklyn block Thursday morning has left 14 people homeless for the holidays, according to the FDNY.

The fire first erupted at 177 Ashford St. around 1:05 a.m. and quickly escalated to a second-alarm emergency by 1:20 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

Two people were minorly injured as 25 units and 106 firefighters fought to put out the roaring flames which spread into nearby buildings, said FDNY.

The American Red Cross reported that the fire left 14 people displaced just four days before Christmas.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
