Brooklyn Cyclist Killed In Van Crash, Cops Say

Hector Ayala Jr. was fatally struck by a van while riding his bicycle in Brooklyn Friday morning, said police.

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN -- A Brooklyn cyclist was killed in a crash with a van early Friday morning, police said.

Hector Ayala, 41, was biking across Linden Boulevard at Crescent Street when he was struck by a 2018 Dodge Van at about 4 a.m. said police.

Ayala was less than one block away from his home at the Louis Heaton Pink houses when he was hit, according to police.

Emergency responders rushed Ayala to Brookdale Hospital but doctors were unable to save his life, police said.

The van driver remained at the scene and was not charged with a crime on Friday, said police.
