Brownsville Mom Left Barefoot 10-Year-Old Son On Hot Roof: Report

Police found ten-year-old Mekhi McClendon wandering alone on a Brownsville roof without any shoes Wednesday morning, according to reports.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — A mother who left her 10-year-old son alone on a hot Brownsville roof has been charged with child endangerment, reports and court records show.

Neighbors called police when they saw Mekhi McClendon, 10, wandering on the roof of two-story building on Park Place near Saratoga avenue Wednesday morning, three buildings away from his home, the Daily News reported.

Police arrived at noon and found the barefoot boy with burns on his feet and scratches on his arm, according to the Daily News.

The officers’ took Mekhi home where they found his mother, Ramona McClendon, 39, in an apartment crawling with cockroaches, full of broken furniture and without any food, the Daily News reported.

McClendon held a three-year-old boy who appeared dehydrated and famished, according to the Daily News.

City child welfare workers removed both McClendon’s sons from the home, police told the Daily News.

McClendon was arraigned on three counts of child endangerment and released from Brooklyn Criminal Court Thursday on her own recognizance, court records show.
