Brooklyn Woman Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver in Stolen SUV: Police
Chooi Tan, 51, died Sunday after a mass-casualty hit-and-run in South Brooklyn, according to the NYPD. The SUV driver is still at large.

CANARSIE, BROOKLYN — Canarsie woman Chooi Tan, 51, was killed and two others injured Sunday after a driver in a stolen SUV crashed into another car "at a high rate of speed" and careened out of control, according to police.
The deadly crashed occurred around 12:50 p.m. near East 94th Street and Avenue K, police said.

Tan and a 57-year-old male victim were hit by the driver and transported to Brookdale Hospital, where Tan succumbed to her injuries, police said.
The 20-year-old male driver whose sedan was struck remained on scene, police said, and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the stolen SUV and his passenger fled on foot, police said.
According to the NYPD, an initial investigation by the Highway Unit's Collision Investigation Squad determined that the SUV was reported stolen in the 67th Precinct two days earlier, on April 29.
The suspect was still at large by Sunday evening, police said. An investigation was ongoing.
