Family Fight Ends Record Murder-Free Streak In East NY: Police
Jahmorley O. Gayle fatally shot his brother and committed East New York's first murder in 2018, police said.

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN — An East New York man murdered his brother last weekend and ended a record murder-free streak in the neighborhood, police said.
Jahmorley O. Gayle, 32, shot his older brother in the neck inside the apartment they shared at 475 Hendrix St. at about noon Sunday, police said.
Police found Jahimel Gayle, 37, lying unconscious on the floor and summoned emergency responders who were ultimately unable to save his life, said police.

The younger brother was arrested Sunday and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, according to police.
The family feud ended an approximately 130-day record for East New York, which, until Sunday, hadn’t had a murder in 2018, the New York Times first reported.
