“The Biaggio’s were the first cigars we made in 1978. When we first came out with that line, we were first chasing after the Cohiba cigar. So we were making a cigar that tasted like a Cohiba, but it was a Dominican cigar,” explained Collado.
Don Rigo Inc. grows its own tobacco in Licey, Santiago—one of the best tobacco growing areas in the Dominican Republic. Their products are delivered straight from their very own farm right to the customer’s doorstep.

“The soil is very black and rich for growing tobacco. I think the quality of soil plays a big part in the success of our tobacco leaves,” stated Collado. “It takes us about 4-5 months to grow tobacco. However, it’s worth the wait because our leaves are amazing.”
After the debut release of the company’s Biaggio cigar, it didn’t stop there. To date, Don Rigo Inc. has nearly a dozen other cigars to choose from, ranging from the Corona to the Churchill.
“With our cigars, I came up with a ‘four-one blend’ method. Basically, that’s four different tobaccos I turned into one, binder and filler—Dominican and Cubano. It’s a double, meaning it’s comprised of a younger leaf with an older leaf on both ends. Then you have the Habano wrapper,” explained Collado. “Why try Cuban when you can have a Dominican made cigar—with Cuban in it? You can have both countries in one.”
When asked to describe his cigars in one word, Collado says the word, “dynamite,” comes to mind. Each cigar has its own distinguishable flavor, making it hard to resist as well as put down.
“Anybody can put my cigars to the test. You can light them in the morning, let it sit there for 2-3 days. When you come and grab the cigar, it’s going to be dry and peeling. Don’t wet it. Just peel it. Grab it, light it up and it comes back to life. I stand behind that,” stressed Collado.
Collado and his team say they stand by their products. He believes in creating only the best. After all, he has a reputation to maintain and wants his customers to be completely satisfied.
“I believe so much in my cigar. I stand by my product. If anybody has a problem with it, send me back the cigar, I’ll be happy to replace it,” stressed Collado. “I want everybody to be happy with my products.”
