Drag Show

A Fabulous One-Night-Only Parody Extravaganza at Triad Theatre
British drag sensation La Voix puts showbiz legends under the microscope in “Diva Breakdown”, her hilarious one-woman musical show that takes place Thursday, May 19th at the Triad Theatre in Manhattan (158 West 72nd). No diva is spared: Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli, Shirley Bassey, Tina Turner, and Cher are analyzed, their nuances exposed, as La Voix delivers dazzlingly precise sound-a-like performances in over-the-top, brilliantly re-imagined scenarios. Ever wondered how Liza might sing Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball”? How about Shirley Bassey taking on an Adele number? Can you imagine Judy performing on a subway train? The international redheaded diva La Voix brings these and other unrealized moments to glorious and uproarious life on the Triad stage.

“Everyone in the world knows Judy, Liza and Cher,” reflects La Voix from London, where she is filming the movie version of the popular British TV show, Ab Fab. She plays a nightclub singer in the film. “And they existed before social media! Imagine being that famous and you've never even tweeted? It was an era when celebrity meant talent.”
But, as La Voix explains in “Diva Breakdown”, to get that talent, the divas rehearsed everything from where their hands fell to how their legs moved to the exact placement of their microphone. “Every minute detail was choreographed and repeated,” she continues.

She demonstrates and dissects the importance of each tiny gesture in the show, giving each movement a name and sometimes relating a story about it. She then teaches the audience how to properly match the motion to music. “Audiences leave the theatre with the ability to drop into their favorite diva at any dinner party with upmost accuracy,” she laughs.
The really fun part of “Diva Breakdown” is when La Voix mixes up the divas, breaking apart their unique nuances and combining them with those of other legends, making for sidesplitting entertainment!
For the past ten years, La Voix has been taking on the giant divas of yesteryear and making them all her own. Even her name, French for “The Voice”, speaks to her uncanny ability to switch between the vocal styles of history’s greatest singers with the click of a sparkly-gloved finger.
La Voix is the only UK drag artist to win first place in every award on the cabaret circuit including Drag Idol, London Cabaret Awards, and the Gold Boyz Scene Awards. She’s been on many television shows including RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, but it was her unforgettable performance, as a finalist, on Europe’s most popular TV show ‘Britain’s Got Talent”, that brought the vivaciously saucy performer to the world’s attention.
La Voix is excited to bring that same level of electricity to the Triad stage. “The Triad’s theatre is small, but the La Voix show is always big,” she says. “I can’t wait to blow the roof off the building with ‘Diva Breakdown’! It’ll be an evening of live diva anthems, fun, and spontaneity.”
